The reality of the research internship search provides a very useful and necessary in the application of the learning experience of real life social and economic principles and university research skills, analysis, writing, and especially critical thinking.

Research Areas

Interns research and write papers on the impact of the criticism of public policies in areas such as maintenance, education, management and the environment.

Scholarship Description:The Department of Mathematics is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The department has three sections: Mathematics, Mechanics, and Statistics and Insurance Mathematics. The position is affiliated with the Section for Statistics and Insurance Mathematics, which currently has 11 full-time academic positions, 3 adjunct positions, and 7 PhD students.

Much of the research at the Section for Statistics and Insurance Mathematics is organized in the research group for Statistics and Biostatistics. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has appointed the group as one of the top-tier research groups at the faculty. The research of the group focuses on methodological and applied problems in statistics; in particular many research projects originate in the use of statistics in biology, medicine, and technological and economic risk assessments.

Three fellows will be selected among applicants currently working in the public or private sector, including government policymaking, business, journalism/mass media, nongovernment organizations, and other public services. By supporting individual research projects and facilitating participation in KSP workshops and other collaborative activities at Shorenstein APARC, this program seeks to enhance each fellow’s ability to engage and resolve issues related to Korea. Each fellow is expected to be in residence and produce a working paper or book on issues related to Korea (both North and South).

The length of the fellowship can range from three to nine months (between September and June).

Applicants must submit a CV, two letters of recommendation, and a research proposal (of no more than 1,000 words), by the fellowship deadline.

Scholarship Description: The objective of the doctoral programs at the graduate school to provide top-class research training. The standardized structure of the doctoral programs at each of the centers of the GESS makes it possible for students and faculty to compare, interact, and collaborate across the three centers. Furthermore, it accounts for the fact that often top research in one field is inspired by developments in neighboring ones. The figure below provides an overview of the time-structure of the research training at the graduate school.

The funding by the German Science Foundation (DFG), first-year students can be fully financed by grants. Students who have successfully passed the first year of doctoral studies, will be funded either through grants or research or teaching assistantships. The decision about the form of continuation finance is made after the first year of doctoral studies. Doctoral grants are in the range of € 1.100 (not subject to income taxation).
